A Psalm of Liberation

Lengua Inglesa IV

March 28, 2017

From the beginning of time we have done wrong

You gave us Your light, but we chose darkness

You came to save, but we refuse to be saved

Good, there is none, said the blameless One

The wickedness within blinded my eyes

Your light was distorted, I couldn’t see clear

If only I could hear then, actually I can

One thing You asked of me, believe

What for? Who are You? Do I need to believe?

Is that it? As simple as that?

Do you want not the heart of a maiden?

Do you want not the heads of 100 oxen?

The sacrifice has already been offered, He said

My Son’s life in exchange for yours

All your burdens, all your sins, all your iniquities

He bore them on the Cross of Calvary

He didn’t come to condemn, but to free you from your chains

Feel free, be free, liberate yourself, believe

You suffered, they mocked You and they do still

They spit at You, blindfolded You and beat You with their fists

You remained silent, Only Love occupied Your thoughts

Salvation for all was Your ultimate goal

I once was lost, but now I am found

Grace, You gave me what I don’t deserve

Mercy, You are not giving me what I deserve

From a horrible pit I was pulled out by Your hand

He died, He was risen, He reigns and He will come back

He payed my debt, I’m no longer chained

Sin has no longer control of me

For my spirit has been liberated and lives

And even when my flesh decays, my spirit will live on

In Heaven I will meet Him again

Dressed in His righteousness alone,

Faultless stand before the throne

Your works are marvellous, Creator of heaven and earth

Your liberation cannot be compared

Through the density of the Death Sea Your people passed

By day a shadowing cloud, by night a column of fire

In the desert, but an oasis were Your wings

You feed them with bread from the sky

You preserved them the way throughout

Your liberation continues until today

You have called us Your friends

While we were still against You

There is no greater love than

To lay down one’s life for one’s friends

Believe, I say, and be free
